How Can Teachers Earn Revenue From Their Work?

It has been our intention from the start to help teachers earn meaningful revenue from their work.

This is possible through the following ways:

  1. Subscription Revenue
  2. Donations

1. Subscription Revenue

For USD $59.99 per year or USD $9.99 per month, a user gets access to our MemberPlus offerings, including:

  • All Insight Courses
  • Premium Tracks
  • Premium Timer
  • Challenges Anytime
  • Offline Listening
  • Advanced Player
  • Custom Folders
  • Custom Milestones
  • Advanced Journal

We share our subscription revenue with teachers and distribute it based on play count and content type.

As well as this, teachers whose content has a high return rate score receive additional bonuses. Return rate is a measure of how often a track or course results in a user returning to Insight Timer tomorrow.

This means the more plays your content gets, the more you will earn.

2. Donations

On Insight Timer, teachers can receive donations from listeners who want to support their work.

Your audience will have the flexibility to choose from three different amounts (USD: $2.99, $7.99, $30.99) or contribute a custom "other" donation amount, with a maximum limit of $1,000.

You will receive 100% of donations from your audience.

Exception: Apple takes a 30% fee on donations made via an iOS device. This does not apply to donations made via Android devices. You can check more details here.

You will receive the donations revenue every month, and it will be reflected in your monthly statement.

PAYMENT

Insight Timer processes all payments through PayPal to minimize transfer fees for teachers. Please note that the recipient of the funds will be responsible for PayPal fees. These fees are subject to change, as determined by PayPal, and can vary depending on the amount being transferred and the teacher's country of origin. The most recent update to PayPal fees occurred on the 21st of August, 2020. The current fee structure is as follows:

  • USA - 2% of the transaction amount up to $1
  • Other Regions - 2% of transaction amount up to a maximum of $20

Our payment cycle for teachers is monthly. Payments are issued on the 21st of each month, adhering to the PST time zone, provided that their revenue total has reached our payment threshold of US$10. If the 21st falls on a non-working day, the payment will be processed on the next working day.

If your total revenue falls below US$10, you won't receive an income statement. Instead, you will receive an email informing you of your earnings for that month and the fact that it didn't reach $10. Payment will only be issued in accordance with our payment cycle when your total revenue reaches or exceeds US$10.

If you haven't provided us with your PayPal information yet, you'll need to complete your payment details in the Teacher Dashboard under the "Payment Details" tab.

A track play count qualifies for compensation when users listen to at least 120 seconds or 2 minutes of a track's total length. If a track's duration is under 2 minutes, a track play count qualifies for compensation when the track is played in full.

Moreover, any unclaimed earnings after 12 months will be donated to charity.

If you reside in a region where PayPal is not allowed or is restricted, please check this article.
