How Can I Remove Myself as a Moderator from a Group?
Managing group roles is an important part of keeping our community healthy. If you're a Group Admin and want to step down from a Moderator role—whether you're removing yourself or another Moderator—here's how to do it.
Who Can Make These Changes
Only a Group Admin can remove Moderator permissions. This means if you're a Group Admin, you can remove any Moderator from your group, including yourself. If you're a Moderator but not an Admin, you'll need to ask your Group Admin to remove your Moderator status.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps to remove a Moderator from your group:
- Open the Insight Timer app on your device.
- Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Tap Groups to access your groups.
- Open the specific Group from which you want to remove the Moderator.
- Tap Settings in the top-right corner of the group page.
- Scroll down to the Group members list and select the member's profile whose Moderator status you want to remove.
- Tap Remove Moderator.
After Removal
Once you've removed someone as a Moderator, that member will no longer have Moderator permissions in your group. They'll retain their membership in the group and can continue participating as a regular community member, but they won't have the ability to moderate discussions or manage group settings anymore.
