Practicing Meditation in Private Mode

Private mode lets you meditate without sharing your activity with other community members. Your sessions stay between you and the app—perfect if you want to keep your practice personal while still being part of our community on Insight Timer.


How to Enable Private Mode

  1. Select your preferred meditation, sleep, yoga, breathwork, or mindfulness track.
  2. Look for the three-dot menu ( ...) next to the bookmark icon.
  3. Tap the Private Mode toggle to enable it.


What Private Mode Does

Once private mode is on, your meditation session becomes invisible to other community members. No one else will see that you completed that practice, your session time, or any activity associated with it. Your progress remains yours alone.


This means you can practice freely without sharing to your profile or activity feed, even though you're using the same platform as millions of others around the world.


Keeping Your Practice Personal

Private mode is ideal when you want to maintain privacy about specific practices or simply prefer a more private meditation experience. The sessions you complete in private mode still count toward your personal practice history and won't be visible on any public profile.
