What is the difference between a Group Admin and Moderator?

There are two roles for people who manage Groups: Admins and Moderators.

The table below outlines the roles and what they're able to do for the Groups they are the Admin or Moderator for, managing members:

I am the Admin of a Group, how do I appoint a Moderator?

Enter your Group
Tap on members and settings
Select the person you would like to make a moderator
Tap Make Moderator

I am the Admin of a Group, can I remove a Moderator?

Enter your Group
Tap on members and settings
Select the person you would like to remove as a moderator
Tap Remove Moderator

I am the Moderator of a Group, can I delete a Group?

No. Only Admins can delete Groups.

I am the Moderator of a Group, can I approve and reject a user’s requests to join the Groups?

Yes. A Moderator can approve or reject users who want to join Groups.

I am the Moderator of a Group, can I make Group members Admins?

No. Only Admins can appoint users as Admins.

I am the Moderator of a Group, can I remove members from the Group?

Yes. If you want to remove a member:

Tap on the user from the feed or members list
Select Remove from Group

Is there a Moderator limit in Group?

No. There is no limit.

I am the Moderator of a Group, can I remove an Admin from the Group?

No. Only another Admin can remove a fellow Admin.

I am the Moderator of a Group, can I leave the Group?

Yes. As a Moderator you can leave a Group if you wish.

I am the Moderator of a Group, can I remove posts from the Group?

Yes. Moderators can remove posts from Groups and comments on posts.

What are the things to look out for as an Admin or Moderator?

Insight Timer is a quiet place for contemplation and we want to ensure everyone can enjoy a safe and comfortable experience. As an Admin or Moderator you should keep an eye on any member that may not be adhering to our Insight Timer's Community Guidelines as well as any Group guidelines you may have set out as an Admin creating the Group.

What do I do if someone is not following the community guidelines?

If required please report the user (click 3 dots on a post or the 3 dots on their profile page > "Report this person") and you can also "Remove from Group" (click 3 dots on a post or from the Member list click their name > "Remove from Group")
